Me at Bonnaroo 2009

After all my fussing about what to pack for Bonnaroo, it paid off! My very favorite fashion and shopping magazine, Lucky, had teamed with AOL’s Stylelist.com for the weekend to scour the Manchester, Tenn., farmland for the chicest outfits. I was one of the gals they stopped to photograph! Turns out, I look like a dork (see photo above and click the link to the left for the entire slideshow of cool outfits), but they captured me in the Kate Moss Topshop bird print dress I blogged about last. I think that’s pretty neat.

For more great Bonnaroo style coverage, browse this Style.com slideshow. This one includes looks from celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Joy Bryant. In fact, singer Grace Potter’s Topshop jumper just made me impulse-buy this adorable floral ‘playsuit’ from the Topshop website. Oopsie!

Packing for Bonnaroo

June 11, 2009 - Leave a Response

I’m 30 lbs. thinner than this time last year. (Thanks to Weight Watchers and willpower.) That means, I’m hitting Bonnaroo with a whole heck of a lot less flesh and a heck of a lot more confidence. And by confidence I mean lack of self-loathing. So, with this being my fifth year of Bonnaroo attendance, I’m more excited than ever about festival wear. My go-to idol for festival apparel is Kate Moss. As such, I was planning on rocking my beloved fringe Minnetonka boots, but my husband informed me that Miss Moss wore hers to Glastonbury, which is blessed with considerably cooler temperatures than Bonnaroo. For that reason, I’m bringing my “shit-kicking” brown boots instead. They oughta hold up to all the mud around the porta-potties.

Here are some of the other things I’m packing:

How adorable is this bow-tie tee shirt? To me, it looks so Anthroplog-etic, but I found it in etsy.com user LizzyBrooke’s shop for only $20! In fact, the shirt she had on her site wasn’t my size so I custom ordered the correct size and only 5 days later, it arrived in my mailbox, just as cute as a button!

I’m also taking along one of Kate Moss’ Top Shop dresses from her Fall 2008 collection. She modeled it herself in an early campaign. It was a recent eBay score of mine and I love it so much.

Miracle Beauty Product? Moroccan Oil

Moroccan Oil

Moroccan Oil

Besides the fact that it just sounds so damn hippie chic, like a miracle balm that Kate Hudson’s Almost Famous character would bathe in, Moroccan Oil turned out to be my favorite beauty product of ’08. At first I couldn’t find it anywhere in Nashville and had to order it online but now it’s everywhere — at Cosmetic Market and Therapy Systems (at the Mall at Green Hills). It’s also in the pages of every fashion magazine I pick up; Salma Hayek’s stylist recently used it to style her mane for an InStyle cover and Lucky featured it. Because of this product, I no longer have to use conditioner. I just shampoo and then, out of the shower, dab a dime-sized amount through my hair and let it air dry. I get soft waves with no frizz. Plus, it smells just like it sounds — incense-y, earthy and exotic. You’ll feel like a Moroccan princess!

Has anyone tried either of the Moroccan Oil hair masks or other styling products?

What I Got: Studded Ballet Slippers

Studded Ballet Slippers from Bonadrag.com

I’d had my eye on these studded ballet slippers from bonadrag.com for over a year. But when my favorite girly girl magazine, Lucky, featured them in their April issue, I took it as a sign from the fashion gods. I had to have them. I’m now the proud owner of these rose petal pink Capezio ballet slippers, adorned with rocker chic studs and priced at only $48. I’m a little worried about how fast they might wear out, with their delicate soles, but really it’s their delicacy that makes them so delicious in the first place! By the way, I recommend poking around bonadrag.com if you have a moment. It’s got a great collection of little-known designers, imaginative pieces and there’s always a fantastic sale going on!
